Bali vacation rentals: our choice
Indonesia's famed island of Bali - the Island of the Gods - is rich in variety, and offers holiday villas for rent and private pool vacation rentals across the island. Here we recommend villas in Bali for your next holiday there - with options ranging from beachside villas with private swimming pools, to holiday houses nestled in the rainforests of the island's jungle-clad interior.
Our recommendation is to combine stays at two villas - one near the beach (for example on Jimbaran bay), and one in the interior of the island, perhaps near Ubud. This combination allows you to experience the best of both worlds and all that the holiday island of Bali has to offer, from white sand beaches lapped by blue and white breakers, to the dramatic jungle interiors, volcanoes and traditional rice farming villages of the terraced hinterlands.
Whether you are looking for a one bedroom villa in Bali for a romantic getaway or wedding, a two bedroom villa for a young family, or a large luxury villa with three bedrooms or more for larger group holidays, we aim to help you identify the villa or villas that are just right for you!
Bali Villas: which region of Bali should I choose?
The southern part of Bali sees the highest number of visitors each year, and is home to the surfer's paradise and shopping haven of Kuta, the dramatic Bukit Peninsula, Canggu, the island's commercial capital Denpasar, the fine white sand stretches of the sweeping bay of Jimbaran, the fashion and trend centre of Seminyak, as well as Legian, Nusa Dua, Sanur and Tanah Lot. Our preferred destination here is Jimbaran - with a very safe beach with gentle waves, a myriad of restaurants and upscale resorts, this beach remains perhaps the most romantic and seductive of the island. The area has managed to avoid the dense over development of Bali's more frenetic tourist centres, and has retained its authenticity.
The mountainous central region of Bali is home to villas in Ubud, a town regarded as the centre of Bali's cultural heartlands, where international artists have for many decades set up home. The arts and crafts traditions of Bali flourish here, with each boutique hotel or cafe placing great value on design, and with many small shops selling hand made carvings, locally made clothes, pieces of of art and more. Just be careful of the light-fingered monkies that roam the forests, as they are often as keen on your trinkets as you are!
The western part of Bali is less visited, and most visitors to the island pass through this area to catch a slow boat to Java or to explore the Natonal Park here, which is popular with those keen on trekking or bird-watching.
This part of Bali is a good place to spend some time exploring by car, heading along the coast from village to village, where life retains the leisurely pace of times gone by. This is also the area to visit for the more outgoing, such as visitors seeking to climb an active volcano to experience a memorable sunrise. The main areas of this region include Candidasa, Kintamani, and of course the island's highest mountain, Mount Agung.
The North of Bali
Bali's North is home to the island's former capital, and is renowned for its dramatic black sand beaches and coral reefs. Divers in particular will wish to visit the areas around Lovina and Singaraja for days of diving hard to match elsewhere.
Jimbaran Bali Holiday Villas for rent
These villas must be Bali's best kept secret, enjoying a unique and very convenient location near the famed, soft white sands of Jimbaran bay (where a slow, romantic cocktail is a must as you watch the sunset in the evening) and its famous seafood restaurants. The owners offer both a 1 bedroom pool villa, and a 2 bedroom pool villa for rent, at rates that offer exceptional value for money. Make one of these villas your home away from home, and enjoy all the benefits of a private villa at a fraction of the cost of a similar hotel stay.
Set in the typical Balinese village of Jimbaran in flowering tropical gardens, the villas are an easy hundred metre stroll to the local market and temple, and a relaxed 350 metre walk to the sandy, crescent-shaped beach, where iconic, colourfully-painted wooden fishing boats dot the beach and horizon. Those keen on cooking with local ingredients or freshly caught fish will love the villas' fully-equipped kitchens.
These Bali villas are elegantly finished in a style that blends contemporary accents with indigenous Balinese design and local materials such as weathered river stone, teak wood, and wooden roof shingles.
Successfully marrying tropical al-fresco living with air-conditioned comfort, the villas offer the best of both worlds. During the day or in the evenings, lounge in your private, open-air living and dining area, enjoying the exotic tropical gardens - and of course your private swimming pool. At night, slumber in utter tranquility in your air-conditioned bedroom, or catch one of the films from the villa's library on your DVD-equipped, flat-screen satellite TV.
The villas offer free wireless internet access. The staff at the property will be happy to assist you in arranging motorcycle rentals, car hire (with driver if required), and to impart some local secrets with recommendations as to where to go for the beast food, great shopping and more.
