Chiang Mai - Chiang Dao Mountain Estate
Ideally situated in the mountains of Chiang Mai province in rural Northern Thailand, this large, six bedroom villa retreat sits on a ten acre estate in the foothills of one of the highest mountains in Thailand. This tranquil country house benefits from the locality's cool mountain climate, and offers visitors the opportunity to blend the natural majesty of the setting with all that the "Northern Rose" has to offer!
The hideaway villa is located some 70 kms north of Chiang Mai city, in Chiang Dao sub district. Chiang Dao is the only region in Thailand to be home to all of the kingdom's 12 hill tribes, and bears the nickname of "Little Tuscany". Whilst some vineyards do exist here, when the Thais visit this region it is generally to get back to nature and to experience the dramatic hills and mountains, the natural beauty of the vicinity, and the temperate mountain climate. Most of those who have experienced the region keep silent about their secret hideaway - whilst they consider Chiang Mai a tourist trap and Pai overpriced, to them the very name "Chiang Dao" evokes the extraordinary - in Thai it means "City of Stars."
The villa boasts a breathtaking vista of the surrounding mountains of the Doi Luang National Park. The main terrace will inevitably become a focal point of your stay as you naturally gather there to admire the majestic views of the mountains at dawn, to enjoy a sunset barbecue, or to revel in the cool nights under a canopy of stars...
The villa's lovingly maintained gardens offer play areas for children, with swings and extensive lawns.
Each of the six en-suite bedrooms has a king sized bed and veranda, and, importantly, enjoys mountain views.
The villa's kitchen enables you to prepare meals that you may choose to enjoy either indoors or al fresco.
This Chiang Mai villa is perfect for groups of friends or families seeking to relax amongst nature, away from the bustle of the city, yet it also offers plenty to see and do in the immediate vicinity. Nearby, visit caves, lakes, rivers, spectacular waterfalls and hot springs; go mountain trekking, fishing or birding; go cycling or explore the local hill tribes and wildlife sanctuary; take an overnight trek to the summit of the mountain, or drop in at the elephant training camp and go white water rafting.
Airport transfers may be arranged, and a vehicle is generally included for stays of 7 nights or more. Car rental is inexpensive and readily available from reputable international companies such as Avis and Budget.
